Kimberly A. Gossage
Background. Kim Gossage was raised in Sterling, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C., which means she is a die-hard Redskins fan. When her mother died unexpectedly at 46, Kim served as executor of her estate and as guardian for two elderly family members. As a result, she gained firsthand knowledge of how daunting the legal system can be for folks who are grieving and she learned the importance of planning at any age.
Education. Kim moved to Charlotte as part of a church planting team in 1991 and graduated magna cum laude from UNC-Charlotte in 1995 with Bachelor’s degrees in history and political science. During law school at Wake Forest, Kim was active on the Moot Court Board, where she earned various honors for appellate advocacy and represented her law school in national competitions, and she also participated in the Legal Clinic for the Elderly. In 1998, she graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law and began practicing in Charlotte with an insurance defense firm.
Work history. While working in insurance defense, Kim tried hundreds of jury trials across North Carolina. Despite the fun (and stress) of trying cases, Kim wanted to return to working with seniors as she had done in law school. As a result, she and Jennefer Garrity joined in 2006 to form Garrity & Gossage, LLP. The firm has grown but remains committed to providing high-quality legal services with compassion and approachability.
Other stuff. In addition to faithfully cheering on the Redskins, Kim enjoys kayaking, international travel and bluegrass, and yes, she realizes that’s a really strange combination.
